Running concurrently with the internationally acclaimed Spoleto Festival USA, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival takes place annually in late spring. This 17-day event transforms Charleston into an exhilarating celebration of the cultural vitality and diversity of the South Carolina Lowcountry. With a focus on accessibility and community participation, Piccolo Spoleto presents over 500 performing, literary, and visual arts events, many of which are free or offered at modest ticket prices.

MOJA Arts Festival

In the fall, the MOJA Arts Festival celebrates African-American and Caribbean arts and culture. This multi-disciplinary festival features a wide range of events, including visual arts, classical music, dance, gospel, jazz, poetry, R&B music, storytelling, theatre, children’s activities, traditional crafts, and ethnic food. Nearly half of the events are admission-free, making it accessible to a broad audience. The festival is produced by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs in cooperation with the MOJA Planning Committee.

Adding to the city’s vibrant arts scene, the Charleston Mural Festival showcases the city’s street art culture and heritage.
